Hostgator, Ipower, Servage, a webhosting review.

August 24, 2008

Currently i have 3 different hosting accounts at Hostgator, Ipower, and Servage and i will tell you my experience with them:

Hostgator (baby package)
$7.95 per month (for 3 years order)
600 gb diskspace
6000 gb monthly transfer
Domain unlimited
This is the most expensive hosting comparing with my others web hosting accounts, i like them for some reason:
the response time is faster, the webmail URL is more friendly (yourdomain.com/webmail), they are using cpanel interface, the server located in US.
No complain so far, Click here if you want to register with hostgator.

Ipower (Pro plan)
$3.98 per month
1,500 GB / 2,500 E-mails
15,000 GB of Bandwidth
Domain unlimited
I hosting several domain here in one account, one thing i don’t like is you can not install another wordpress when you already have one with it (using automatic installer). I think you must install it manually for the 2nd and on.
The support is bad, you will be hold for a long time before can chat with someone.
I will not renew my hosting account there.

Servage (one plan)
$6.45/month
510 GB Web Space
5010 GB Transfer
Domain unlimited
This is the only web hosting with clustering technology I know. I feel satisfied with their service so far, the customer support is superb, you can wait their answer in short time (approx. 30 minutes).
My server located in UK and my business mostly for US, so this is bothering me a little, beside that everything is perfect.
Click here to register with Servage and receive 25GB extra space.

What Is Your Anti Virus Program ?

February 6, 2008

AntiVir Personal EditionWhat Is Your Anti Virus Program ? or What Is The Best Anti Virus Program ?
I’ve been asking this many times, most of people who asked this found that although they already installed Anti Virus program, they still got infected :-)

They feel secure from virus when they bought and install anti virus program, unfortunately this is not true. There is no guarantee that your computer will safe from virus although you bought the most sophisticated anti virus program. They only minimize, not eliminating the risk ;-)

Some measures you want to consider when minimizing risk of getting infected by virus :

  • Updating anti virus solely is not enough, you also upgrade your Operating System with the latest patch or Service pack ( if using Microsoft product).
  • You must avoid browsing or download to porn/malicious sites in the internet, mostly the virus or spyware come from them.
Don’t open/double click any email attachment unless you’re sure it is safe.
  • Update your anti virus frequently.
  • For personal use I like Avira AntiVir Personal Edition Classic (I’ve been using it for years).
When I installed other Anti Virus Program I feel my computer performance degraded much, but not with this product.
If you need manually update the virus definition file, click this and download the file.
